About J. Taylor Choate

estd 1988

For those wondering, the “J.” stands for Justin. Taylor’s biological father insisted his first name start with a “J” as his other 3 of 4 siblings’ names did.

Pastor Taylor is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Fellowship, USA.  He has earned degrees in Biblical Studies, Church Leadership, and in 2020 graduated with a Masters of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Through the years Taylor has served as a Student Ministry Pastor, Missions & Outreach Pastor, Associate Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Lead Pastor. During his time in ministry he has traveled to 17+ countries preaching at churches and conferences across the globe.

Taylor has been involved in full-time ministry for the past 12+ years, but in 2022, he decided to become a bi-vocational pastor while also teaching geometry at Dayton High School. Teaching allows him to connect with students and positively impact their lives on a daily basis. Pastor Taylor strongly believes that every church should strive to be healthy, and he thinks that achieving this requires aligning missions and nurturing a positive organizational culture. With his God-given anointing, Taylor is determined to use his beliefs to help Harvest Church become a vibrant, effective, and contemporary ministry serving the Liberty and Hardin Counties region.

His greatest joy however is found in spending time with his bride, Morgan, their three year old Matilda, and newborn Anderson. They love visiting new restaurants, the Houston Zoo, and traveling to Disney with their extended family. He enjoys eating Texas’ BBQ, a good movie, and cooking.

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

We must all realize our depravity and need of redemption. We are sinful by nature and must be redeemed through the gift of salvation offered to us by God through Christ's sacrifice.

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23

Believe in your heart by putting your faith in Christ's work and God's love for you, that you are saved.

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9

Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you shall be saved.

if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9
